WEAR AND CARE

General Wear and Care

We value using the highest quality natural materials and we create each handmade piece with style and durability in mind. To maintain the authentic beauty of each Lisa Maxwell piece you chose to make your own, we advise keeping your Lisa Maxwell jewelry away from harsh chemicals and water. For specific material-related wear and care details, see below.

Stretch Bracelets

Our Lisa Maxwell stretch bracelets are strung on durable stretch elastic chord to make putting them on and taking them off effortless. To enhance the lifetime of your bracelet, roll your bracelet on and off of your wrist. Stretching and pulling your beaded bracelet can cause the elastic to weaken and break over time. Avoid directly exposing your bracelet to harsh chemicals including hairspray, perfume, cologne, and chlorine and it is also recommended to keep your Lisa Maxwell stretch bracelets out of water and avoid wearing them while showering, swimming or exercising to prevent weakening of the elastic and damaging the natural qualities of the stones and beads. We also suggest taking your stretch bracelet off before sleep.

Sterling Silver

All silver that we use is sterling silver.  Using sterling silver adds to the durability of each silver piece, however sterling silver may react to oxygen, other elements in the air and the skin’s natural acidity. To ensure the longevity of your sterling silver, avoid exposure to harsh chemicals such as perfume, cologne and lotions and do not wear your sterling silver in water. While it is natural for sterling to tarnish slightly over time, it is best to store your silver away from direct sunlight and dampness. A polishing cloth can be used to remove tarnish from sterling silver chains and beads. We offer the option of purchasing a polish cloth from our online store.

14-Karat Gold

All gold that we use is 14-karat gold-filled. Unlike gold-plated material, because the gold we use is gold-filled, the natural colour will last for the lifetime of the piece, providing that you treat it with care. Avoid exposure of gold to harsh chemicals including perfume, cologne and lotions and do not wear your gold pieces in water. A polishing cloth can also be used to remove tarnish from gold and silver beads and can be purchased from our online store.
